Welcome To Makana |
|
Makana Coffee Co. uses only the finest most aromatic richest tasting coffee beans from Hawaii and around the world, hand picking bean at the peak of freshness and color. Kona coffee beans grow in rich volcanic soil on a small twenty mile track of land on the western slopes of Hawaii. These beans are rare, less than 1% of all coffee sold in the world is truly Kona. As coffee plants bloom, small white flowers cover the trees and are known as Kona Snow. In April, green berries begin to appear on the trees. By late August, red fruit, called “cherry” because of the resemblance to the cherry berry, start to ripen for picking. |

Master roasters, roast the coffee for consistent color, temperature and flavor. The bean absorbs the heat, creating a shift in color from yellow to a light cinnamon brown. Different degrees of roasting will bring out the signature characteristics of the beans. A lighter roast will retain more of the beans original earthy flavor. A medium roast will enhance the beans to bring out a deeper, more robust flavor, where as darker roasts can eclipse the original flavor of the bean, taking on the flavors of the roasting process itself. Personal preference should be your guide when selecting the coffee flavor of your choice. |
